Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | Pakistan and China have agreed to increase cooperation in meteoro-
logical science and technology.
The major developmental agreement reached to its conclusion during the meeting held in Beijing, China last week between the meteorological officers and experts from China and Pakistan.
The two nations also agreed for deepening cooperation on early warning supporting system, operational capacity building, and training, reported by China Economic Net (CEN) on Thursday March 30, 2023.
Zhang Zuqiang, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration, on this ocean said, “China looks forward to promoting the construction of cloud-based early warning supporting system with Pakistan.”
Mahr Sahibzad Khan, Director General of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and permanent repre-
sentative of Pakistan with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said, “Pakistan will continue to
support China in international meteorological governance.”
Mahr Sahibzad Khan and the Pakistani delegation also visited relevant agencies under CMA to learn about the progress of the cloud-based early warning support system in Pakistan and discussed customized plans for
Pakistan.
Mr. Khan said, "Pakistan is grateful for CMA’s technical support when Pakistan was hit by severe floods last
year. “
“PMD and CMA will strengthen cooperation in monitoring, forecasting, hydrology and communication, and
research & training,” he added.
Bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China is of vital significance for meteorological development in
Asia as both countries are important members of WMO Regional Association II.
