Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | The Turkish embassy in South Korea announced on the 13th that it
would not accept second-hand goods to help victims of the strong earthquake.
As donations continued to Turkey for the victims of the destructive earthquake that occurred on February 6,
the Turkish Embassy in South Korea said, “We will not accept used items.”
The Turkish Embassy said on social media, “as the health care system collapses due to the strong earthquake, the second-hand items worn or used can give rise to the hygiene problems.”
The list of necessary items announced by the embassy includes winter tents, blankets, sleeping bags, and
electric heaters.
The embassy also warned against false fundraising activities.
The embassy said, “Unfortunately, malicious people and similar institutions are being witnessed who are trying to abuse the goodwill of our people and Korean brothers who are struggling to restore the damage.”
The embassy claimed on social media that Seoul's 'Global Business Alliance (GBA)' cooperated with the
embassy to raise goods and cash for earthquake relief, but the embassy said it had nothing to do with the
embassy.
"The administrator is a member of a terrorist organization and is wanted in Turkey." "People who wish to make donations are requested to make through reliable and well-known institutions and organizations such as our
embassy, AFAD, the Turkish Red Crescent Society, and the Korean Red Cross," the Turkish embassy added.
The embassy works with Turkish Airlines to quickly deliver the items sent to those in need.
Those who wish to donate relief goods related to the earthquake in Turkey, after packing the relief goods in a box, indicate the type of packed goods and "Aid Material / Turkey."
“Please fill out and send to the address below. Relief items arriving at the address will be transported free of
charge to Turkey via Turkish Airlines,” mentioned by the Turkish Embassy.
