Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA Reporter | About 2,418 Sikh devotees from India crossed the Atari-Wagah
border (Border line between India & Pakistan) on Sunday Nov 8 to make the pilgrimage to Nankana Sahib in the Punjab province of Pakistan on the birth anniversary of the religious leader Guru Nanak.
Nankana Sahib is the most important religious site for the Sikh religion because the founder of Sikhism
religion Guru Nanak was born in the same city and first began preaching there. In 2019 after prolonged
efforts of the Sikh community the historical Gurudwara on Nankana sahib was given direct access to pilgrims via the Kartarpur corridor project (visa-free border crossing and religious corridor between India and Pakistan).

On 26 November 2018, the foundation stone was laid down on the Indian side by Prime Minister Narendra Modi; two days later, then Pakistani Ex. Prime Minister Imran Khan did the same for the Pakistani side. The
corridor was completed at the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, on 12 November 2019.
At the opening of this new Era, Ex.PM Imran Khan said, "Pakistan believes that the road to prosperity of Sikh
region and bright future of our coming generation lies in peace", added
"Pakistan is not only opening the border but also their hearts for the Sikh community".
Since that time Sikh community started visiting their religious Gurudwara Nankana Sahib in Punjab, Pakistan
freely.
The Indian High Commission in Pakistan is coordinating with local authorities for the safety and security of
Sikh pilgrims reached for the celebrations of Guru Nanak’s birth.
Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA 기자 | 인도에서 온 약 2천418명의 시크교 신자들이 종교 지도자 구루 나낙(Guru Nanak)의 탄생 기념일에 파키스탄 펀자브(Punjab) 지방의 난카나 사히브(Nankana Sahib) 순례를 위해 지난 11월 8일 아타리-와가(Atari-Wagah) 국경(인도와 파키스탄의 국경선)을 넘었다.
구루 나낙은 Sikhism의 창시자이다. 때문에 Nankana Sahib는 Sikh 종교를 위한 가장 중요한 종교적인 장소다. 종교 구루 나낙은 Nankana Sahib에서 태어나 이 곳에서 처음 설교를 시작했다. 이같은 상황을 고려해 지난 2019년 시크교 공동체의 오랜 노력 끝에 난카나 사히브의 역사적으로 유명한 구루 드와라가 Kartarpur 회랑 프로젝트(인도와 파키스탄 사이의 무비자 국경 횡단 및 종교 회랑)를 통해 순례자들에게 직접 접근할 수 있게 됐다.
지난 2018년 11월 26일, 인도 나렌드라 모디(Narendra Modi) 총리가 Kartarpur 회랑 프로젝트 추진을 위한 초석을 놓았다. 이틀 후 파키스탄 임란 칸 전 총리도 이에 화답함에 따라 지난 2019년 11월 12일 구루 나낙 탄생 550주년 기념일에 Kartarpur 회랑 프로젝트가 완공됐다.
Kartarpur 회랑이 열리는 이 새로운 시대의 개막에서 파키스탄 임란 칸 전 총리는 "파키스탄은 시크교 지역의 번영과 우리 다음 세대가 밝은 미래로 가는 길은 평화가 함께 한다고 믿는다"고 강조했다. 이어 "파키스탄은 국경을 개방할 뿐만 아니라 시크교 공동체에 대한 마음도 열고 있다"고 덧붙였다. 이후로 시크교 공동체는 파키스탄 펀자브의 종교적인 구루드와라 난카나 사히브를 자유롭게 방문하기 시작했다.
파키스탄의 인도 고등 판무관은 구루 나낙의 탄생을 축하하기 위해 도착한 시크교 순례자들의 안전과 보안을 위해 지방 당국과 협력하고 있다.
